AJ needs no introduction to Ashington supporters after a hugely successful spell at the Colliers earlier in his career. A key part of Gary Middleton’s side that did so well in the early days at Woodhorn Lane, AJ scored the opening goal in the 2013 Northumberland Senior Cup final as Ashington beat Whitley Bay 3-0 at St. James’ Park. In 2016 Andrew made the switch to Spennymoor Town in the National League North, where he played for four seasons, before moving to Morpeth Town in 2020. After an impressive spell at Craik Park, AJ left the Highwaymen in the summer, joining Northern League Newcastle Blue Star, before his return to Ashington.

Eddie Thomas

A new signing for the 2024/25 season, centre forward Eddie Thomas makes the move to Woodhorn Lane after recent spells at Marske United and Whickham. He played a major part in Newton Aycliffe’s promotion to the Northern Premier League, scoring 18 times in the 2022/23 season. Eddie has represented England Universities, featuring in the Home Nations tournament this summer against Scotland and Wales. Former clubs also include Gateshead, Dunston and Crook Town.

Jon Shaw

A vastly experienced player that has had a long and successful career in both the Football League and non-league. Jon started his career at Sheffield Wednesday, making 18 first team appearances, scoring goals against QPR and Luton Town, before moving to Burton Albion where he made over 100 appearances. He would later move to Halifax Town, scoring 20 goals in his first season at The Shay, before making transferring to Rochdale. He went on to have spells at Gateshead, Mansfield Town and Luton Town, where he won the Conference Premier title, before returning to Gateshead. He would later move onto South Shields and Dunston, before joining Blyth Spartans, first as player/assistant manager and then taking on the role as manager at Croft Park last season. Now back playing, Jon scored a fantastic goal on his Colliers debut in the FA Cup win at Shildon. Jon has 6 England ‘C’ caps, scoring once against Barbados.

Matty Slocombe

Matty is a new signing for the 2024/25 season, making the move to Ashington from fellow NPL East side Consett. The 30 year-old midfielder was part of the Consett side that played in the FA Vase final at Wembley in 2021,and made over 400 appearances for the Steelman.

Jack Camarda

Jack makes the move to Woodhorn Lane for the 2024/25 season after a couple of seasons at fellow NPL side Dunston. The midfielder has had spells at Oldham Athletic, Mansfield Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fleetwood Town and Preston North End as a youngster, before returning to his native Isle of Man to complete his education. While there he played for FC Isle of Man in the North West Counties League. Now studying at Durham University, Jack has been selected to represent England Universities.

A new signing for the 2024/25 season, central defender Ritz started his career in the youth ranks at Hull City, captaining their Under-23’s in the 2019/20 season. Former clubs of Ritz include Blyth Spartans, Whitby Town, Redcar Athletic, Hebburn Town and Whitley Bay.

A tricky attacker that joins Ashington on a permanent basis for the 2024/25 campaign after making a few appearances for the Colliers last season while on a dual registration with West Allotment Celtic. The young Frenchman started his career at French Third Division side Chateauroux, before being released and moving to England. His former clubs include Newcastle Benfield, Thornaby and Consett.
