Ashington Community Football Club are delighted to have become a donation point for the Wansbeck Valley Food Bank.
Supporters and friends of the club can now bring items of food to the Colliers home games at Woodhorn Lane that will be passed onto the Food Bank for distribution in the local area.
Club Chairman Brian Shotton commented “As part of our investment as a Community Club we want to give as much back to our community as we can. We live in very difficult times where individuals and families are struggling to make ends meet. As a club we are so pleased we can help support this very worthwhile cause, more so in the run up to Christmas which is the most difficult time of year for many”
The first opportunity to donate will be the Ashington vs. Hebburn Town game on Tuesday 20th November.
The food bank is able to accept basic tinned or dried food with a reasonable shelf life. At the moment the items they would find particularly useful are;
Small tubs of Buttery Spread, Small Blocks of Cheese, Long Life Milk, Tins of Vegetables, Packets of Potato Mash, Tins of Rice Pudding, Toilet Rolls
In addition, Shower gel, Shampoo, Toothpaste, and small Bars of Chocolate would be gratefully received.
With Christmas just around the corner they would also accept small selection boxes and Christmas puddings.
The donation point will be available just inside the turnstile on entrance to the ground.
A collection bucket will also be available in the bar for anyone wishing to make a cash donation.
