Penrith vs Ashington

The Colliers make the trip to Cumbria to face Penrith tonight. It is the first time Ashington have been visitors to Southend Road in five years.

Supporters Club Race Night
 

Ashington Football Supporters Club are hosting a Race Night on Saturday 23rd August in the Function Suite at the Football Club.

The Race Night begins at 7.00pm with Free Admission.

There will also be a bottle raffle on the night, if anybody wishes to donate a prize please bring this along to the Football Club.

Colliers advance to Preliminary Round of FA Cup
 

Youngster Lee Scott fired a wondergoal ten minutes from time to send Ashington through to the next round of the FA Cup.

The Colliers beat Thackley 1-0 at Croft Park, Blyth to advance in the competition. Full Match Report HERE

Ashington now play Ossett Albion at Woodhorn Lane on Saturday 30th August in the Preliminary Round.

Colliers prepare to begin for FA Cup journey
 

Ashington Community Football Club are hoping a ground which holds a bit of cup magic will provide a springboard for them to make progress in this season's e-on sponsored FA Cup. The Colliers 'host' Thackley in the extra preliminary round tie at Blyth's Croft Park on Saturday.

Colliers and Fed share spoils
 

Ashington came away from Federation Park with a valuable point after a 2-2 draw. All the goals came in the first half with Paul Hutchinson and Alan Hogg notching for the Colliers.

Supporters Club: Next Meeting
 

Ashington Football Supporters club will host their first meeting at Woodhorn Lane on Thursday 14th August starting at 7.30pm.

It is an excellent chance for those who have yet to see the facility to come along and have a look around.

Club Statement
 

Following the game at South Shields on Saturday it was brought to my attention that one of our supporters had made comments that were offensive and inappropriate. I will be writing to the Chairman of South Shields FC to apologise for any distress caused to their players and/or supporters and advising him that we do not condone those comments nor do they reflect the views of our club and its supporters.

This issue will be dealt with internally by Ashington CFC and I do not think it would appropriate to make any further comments at this stage.

Football Club opening weekend a huge success

Ashington Community Football Club opened it's doors for the first time on Friday night in a weekend that has showcased the new facilities at Woodhorn Lane.

Colliers start season with a win
 

Ashington got the 2008/2009 Northern League season underway with a 2-0 win at South Shields.

The Filtrona Park based side had the better of the opening half but Ashington went in front against the run of play with a goal from Gareth Bainbridge on the stroke of half time. Ross Atkinson added a second on 72 minutes as the Colliers got off to a winning start.
